DIESEL ENGINES FOR

FISHING JUNKS

Paragraph 15 of

Hong Kong despatch.

The vegetable marketing scheme

should be run on commercial lines and

finance required for capital expenditure

obtained by loan.

This proposal is acceptable in principle,

but full consideration must await the

appointment of the senior Agricultural staff,

when detailed estimates can be worked out.

The cost of these surveys could be met

from one of the allocations for Central

Schemes shown in enclosure 2 to circular

despatch of 12th November, 1945, (Cmd.6713).

It will, however, be impossible for them to

be undertaken during the next two years

because of shortage of technical staff and

high priorities for surveys of a similar

nature in other Colonial territories.

Your despatch No.116 of the 21st

May is under consideration and a reply

will be sent separately.
